What follows is the text of a speech given on 3rd January by Ben Bernanke, the Chairman of the Federal Reserve. It was delivered at the annual meeting of the American Economic Association and entitled: The Federal Reserve: Looking Back, Looking Forward. Bernanke will step down at the end of January.
