Farewell Angela Lambert

Prospect was saddened to hear about the death of journalist and writer Angela Lambert last week. Angela passed away at the age of 67, after a long illness. She was an occasional contributor to the magazine over the years, most recently to our January 2007 books of the year feature, in which she rather cheekily nominated her own book, The Lost Life of Eva Braun (Century) as most underrated. Nearly ten years ago, Prospect's cover story was Angela's interview with Jeanette Winterson; more recently she spoke to Philip Pullman for an article on children's literature. This article by her from 2002 (you can view the painting she writes about here) is a favourite of mine.

Angela's death follows not long after that of politician and journalist Ian Gilmour. Gilmour was a small investor in the early days of Prospect, and a contributor to the magazine as well. He, too, will be missed.
