Erik Brynjolfsson and Andrew McAfee's The Second Machine Age: Work, Progress, and Prosperity in a Time of Brilliant Technologies (WW Norton) has become one of the most talked-about books of the year. McAfee and Brynjolfsson, who are professors of economics at MIT, argue that technology is at an "inflection point" and that, as technology makes a great leap forward, we are about to see its profound consequences on every aspect of human life.
