Twitter has been a focal point for those responding to last week's terror attacks in Paris, with the hashtag #JeSuisCharlie used to express solidarity with the murdered cartoonists and journalists, #JeSuisAhmed used to mourn the loss of a Muslim policeman who died protecting Charlie Hebdo's staff, and #JeSuisJuif used to commemorate the victims of the kosher supermarket hostage situation.

So it's fitting that Twitter is also playing a key role in the response of Muslims around the world, who are sharing a positive, peaceful vision of the Prophet Muhammad and his teachings with the hashtag #WhoIsMuhammad.

Some are sharing Islamic teachings:

THIS is what Islam teaches us, this is what the Prophet (saws) preached. #WhoIsMuhammad#IslamIsPeacepic.twitter.com/iTqQgUzLjN — Amela Jazvin (@MissBosnian) January 14, 2015

Others are sharing positive views of the prophet himself:

Others are hopeful the hashtag will help counter negative views of their faith:

I pray that this #WhoIsMuhammad gives people the opportunity to learn about Islam, our Prophet & stop the uneducated assumptions. — Anonymous (@BasicKn0wledge) January 14, 2015
