Comments Policy

Prospect actively welcomes online comments from its readers and seeks to encourage a diversity of viewpoints and perspectives. However, where necessary we will moderate comments to maintain the reader experience of those using the Prospect website, in accordance with the guidelines below. The full terms of our website acceptable use policy can be found here.

Commenters should seek to ensure that all facts they post are accurate and that they genuinely hold any opinions they share. Comments must comply with applicable law in any country from which they are posted.

Commenters should ensure their posts are relevant and constructive. Comments must not contain material which is defamatory, offensive or inflammatory, or which promotes sexually explicit material, violence or discrimination. They should engage with the substance of debate and avoid personal attacks on journalists, fellow users, or anyone else. Posts should never be harassing, abusive or invade anyone’s privacy. Commenters should never misrepresent their identity. Some posts, including all containing hyperlinks, will be pre-moderated; posts that clearly promote a commercial product will be removed.

Commenters are asked to avoid mass posting in such a way that crowds out other contributions and to avoid writing in block capitals. Those who repeatedly violate these guidelines may be banned.

If you have any questions concerning a comment that has been moderated, please email moderation@prospectmagazine.co.uk
