Prospect is seeking a talented journalist with a passion for digital media for this entry-level position. Please note that this is not primarily a writing role.
After being given relevant training, the successful candidate might be asked to complete any of the following tasks on a given workday:
- Assist in writing, curating and publishing newsletters, including our daily newsletter Lightbulb and our weekend newsletter Weekend Read
- Writing copy and producing visual assets (both carousels and short-form video) for our social media channels
- Scheduling and posting these assets across platforms including X, Bluesky, Facebook, Threads, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and LinkedIn
- Curating our website’s homepage
- Sending push notifications for our app
- Editing longer-form videos (primarily interviews) for our YouTube and Substack channels
- Assisting with the set-up and recording of our podcast episodes
- Working with the Head of Digital Audience to devise new and innovative ways to present our journalism on various digital platforms
- Recording analytic data to track our progress across digital platforms
Candidates must possess the following skills:
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Sound editorial judgement
- An eagerness to learn new things
- The ability to produce quality work quickly to strict deadlines
- The ability to work collaboratively with other journalists and contribute to editorial meetings
Our ideal candidate will also excel at one or more of the following tasks:
- Writing for newsletters, and understanding them as vehicles to reach and engage audiences
- Producing social media assets such as carousels and short-form videos, using software such as Canva and the Adobe suite
- Recording videos, including familiarity with cameras and other AV equipment
- Editing videos using software such as Premiere Pro
Prospect is the UK’s outstanding monthly current affairs title—a home for fine writing, robust debate and considered reflection on the biggest issues of our time.
