The shots were fired from the 32nd floor of the hotel, striking revellers who had gathered for a country music festival.
The suspect has been named as a 64-year-old white man named Stephen Paddock. According to Las Vegas Police, he has been killed, and a female companion who had been named as a “person of interest” has now been found.
Several images of alleged “missing persons” circulated on social media after the attack. Buzzfeed news has rounded up these hoaxes, including an image of Arsenal footballer Mesut Özil who one poster was claiming was his brother, “a practicing Muslim who is missing after going to the concert.”
