The Prospect Think Tank Awards, founded in 2001, are an annual recognition of the important and inuential work carried out by Think Tanks across the globe. The awards are free to enter and aim to give credit to the most original, inuential and rigorous work on the most pressing challenges facing people, governments and businesses today.

The awards are judged by an independent, cross-party panel chaired by the Editor, Tom Clark. They will look for evidence of inuence on public policy and on the public discourse and will consider the quality of research and the potential of younger and smaller organisations. Applications will be judged using the following criteria:
  • Coherent selection of topics of importance
  • Innovative and plausible policy prescription
  • Rigour of analysis
  • Inuence on politics
  • Inuence on media and wider impact
  • Convening power
In the event of there being no clear winner on these criteria, a tie break can be settled in favour of the think tank which the judges deem to have a clear advantage over its rival in terms of transparency of funding, or excellence in training the next generation of researchers.

Applications for the 2018 Think Tank Awards should feature research work published between Monday 22nd May 2017 and Friday 27th April 2018.
