Date: Tuesday 3rd June
Time: 6- 7pm
Location: Prospect’s Office + Livestreaming

The Joseph Rowntree Foundation and Prospect are delighted to welcome Felicia Wong to the Centenary event series.

Felicia was the US representative on the G7 Economic Resilience Panel in 2021, served on the Biden-Harris administration transition advisory board, and as vice chair of the administration’s Treasury Advisory Committee on Racial Equity.

She will talk about how bold new economic thinking —focused on inequality, power and democratic renewal—has shaped real-world policy, especially under Biden. She’ll trace the rise of these ideas, where they’re heading next, and what the US experience—including the political backlash that helped fuel Trump’s rise—can teach us about the gap between policy wins and people actually feeling better off.

With the UK debating how to balance short-term support like cash transfers and childcare subsidies with longer-term structural reforms—from housing and transport to workers’ rights—her insights couldn’t be more timely.

The speech will be followed by a discussion with Jane Green, Professor of Political Science and British Politics, Nuffield College, University of Oxford, and chaired by Prospect editor, Alan Rusbridger.
