Job opportunity at Prospect: Digital Assistant

An opening is available in our Westminster office.

By Prospect Team

Prospect is Britain’s award-winning magazine of ideas, covering politics, economics and the broader world of thought and literature. It is looking to recruit a new member of its small, friendly team as it seeks to expand its online reach.

The successful candidate will have varied tasks and wider opportunities than would be likely to be available in a larger organisation. As such, this post could provide an ideal step-up into varied careers in the media.

The position is based in our Westminster office. The position would suit a junior production journalist or recent graduate with some online experience. Experience in different fields will be considered.

It would also suit somebody considering a career change or re-entering the workforce, and we are happy to consider flexible working arrangements as appropriate.

The ideal applicant will have a keen eye for an online sell, both on the Prospect website and on social media. They will be involved in editing web commissions as well as preparing magazine content for online, and subsequently promoting that content via social media.

The ideal candidate will:

—Have excellent editing skills

—Have good knowledge of SEO and of writing headlines for online

—Have experience promoting content via Facebook and Twitter

—Be passionate about online journalism and presenting content dynamically to match a changing industry

— Be willing to work flexibly across a small company, including with subscriptions and events teams

They should also have experience of, or be willing to learn:

—Wordpress and basic HTML

—Basic Adobe suite functions, including in Photoshop

Experience with podcasts would be a bonus.
