Today Mark Carney will unveil his “forward guidance” plan for the UK economy. The inflation report will be his first major test as head of the Bank of England. Analysts have been eagerly anticipating the results. Yesterday James Zuccollo offered up some suggestions for Carney in Prospect. The Reform economist recommended a new “rule” to guide the Bank of England. “The rule must be consistent with both higher inflation today to create growth, and the inflation target in future” he says.
