A professor of government and sociology at Harvard, Theda Skocpol’s wide-ranging work has centred upon politics and social policy in the US. In 2007, she was awarded the Johan Skytte Prize in Political Science for her "visionary analysis of the significance of the state for revolutions, welfare, and political trust, pursued with theoretical depth and empirical evidence." In January she published a detailed report (available here) entitled “Naming the problem: What it will take to engage Americans in the fight against global warming.”
