Offer of "information that would incriminate Hillary" was met with reply: "I love it"by Prospect Team / July 11, 2017 / Leave a comment
Donald Trump Jr has published emails which show him welcoming what he was told was a Russian attempt to harm Hillary Clinton’s election campaign.
The emails show British PR Rob Goldstone telling the president’s son that Russia had offered “to provide the Trump campaign with some official documents and information that would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to your father.”
He adds that the offer “is part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr Trump.” In his reply shortly afterwards, Trump Jr says “I love it.”
The emails reveal that Trump Jr met Natalia Veselnitskaya, a Russian lawyer, hoping that she would provide him with information from the Kremlin.

Trump Jr published the emails on Tuesday, apparently to pre-empt their release by the New York Times, which had told him it would release them.
In an accompanying statement today, Trump Jr says: “The information that they suggested they have about Hillary Clinton I thought was political opposition research.”
He denies any wrongdoing, and has tweeted: “Media and Dems are extremely invested in the Russia story. If this nonsense meeting is all they have after a year, I understand the desperation!”
The news comes after months of revelations about Trump’s alleged links with Russia. Earlier this year Luke Harding wrote on the Russian hacking of the US election, while Calder Walton explained what historic US intercepts can tell us about the background to “Kremlingate.”
