The Parliamentary Staff Awards recognise the dedicated staff behind each and every MP and peer and the work they do to support parliamentary and constituency engagement.

Ahead of entries for the awards closing, Prospect's Emily Lawford spoke to Kirstie Hawton, head of culture at Octopus, and Estelle Warhurst, office manager to Mark Hendrick MP and member of the Working Wellness Group.

Kirstie Hawton spoke about Octopus’s wellbeing programme and the company’s various services to improve mental health of employees. Estelle Warhurst explained the particular mental health issues that can arise for MPs’ staffers, both in parliament and in constituency offices. They both discussed how employers can build trust with their staff and how to best look after their wellbeing.

Their discussion is introduced by Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Commons.
