George Galloway, the controversial MP for Bradford West, is still considering running for Mayor of London in 2016, he has told Prospect.

In an interview to discuss his pro-union “Just Say Naw” tour of Scotland, Galloway told Prospect he will decide later this year whether to remain in Parliament or run for the position now occupied by Tory incumbent Boris Johnson.

Galloway, who has represented the Labour party in the past but is now an MP for the far-left Respect party, said that after 27 years in parliament, running for the Mayoralty was “an attractive possibility”.

“With Boris Johnson almost certainly going, Mr Livingston retired and Labour candidates of varying degrees of weakness being touted… it’s quite an interesting prospect,” he said.

Galloway first announced that he was thinking about running for Mayor last summer.
