World Thinkers 2015: David Chalmers

Something of a rock star in his field—not least for his shaggy-haired appearance—Chalmers, who teaches at the Australian National University, is one of the most important figures studying human consciousness. A recent popular TED talk put forward the idea that consciousness might be present, in certain respects, at every level of existence. His work inspired Tom Stoppard’s most recent play, The Hard Problem.
