Thomas Piketty and Emmanuel Saez are French economists whose work together has examined economic equality in countries across the world. Their research on taxation and inequality in the United States was especially influential on Democratic policy during Barack Obama’s campaign for re-election. Thomas Piketty teaches at the Paris School of Economics, which he helped found, and Emmanuel Saez is currently a professor at the University of California, Berkeley.
