The DropoutABC News This real-life case is already being made into a movie starring Jennifer Lawrence, but this podcast is a chance to hear the full unbelievable story first. In 2015, Elizabeth Holmes was the youngest self-made female billionaire in America after devising what she said was a revolutionary blood test; but now she is awaiting trial for fraud after the tests were found to be ineffective. “So much of this story is about a woman with stars in her eyes and a sense of her own destiny,” says Rebecca Jarvis, who propels the story with a sense of who Holmes is, where she came from and what she wanted to achieve.

The InvestigationABC News As the Mueller probe into Russian attempts to interfere in the US elections has unfolded, many have speculated this might be a scandal on the scale of Watergate (the subject of the successful Slow Burn). This well-researched podcast, also from ABC, which recaps events so far, is both fascinating and invaluable. The creators describe their approach to storytelling as “a political whodunnit with Robert Mueller as the lead detective”—making it a true crime podcast, perhaps, on the grandest possible scale.

David Tennant Does a Podcast With…Somethin’ Else and No Mystery “What made you decide to do this?” Olivia Colman asks David Tennant at the beginning of one of the episodes of his new celebrity interview podcast. “I don’t know,” he replies, “mid-life crisis? I’m not sure.” Well, whatever the spur was, this new podcast is an oddly charming mix of easy-listening cosy chats—with a large dollop of luvvy chumminess—and a few revelations from the guests, who so far have included Jodie Whittaker and Whoopi Goldberg as well as Oscar-winner Colman.
