Science Beyond the Lab: The DIY Science Revolution Science Museum, London, opens 20th June

In March researchers in Germany announced that the Aedes japonicus mosquito had been spotted in Upper Bavaria. Credit for the find must go to amateur pestwatchers who have been sending in mozzies so that experts can map the invasion (and the potential reach of the diseases they carry). It is a fine example of citizen science, the subject of a new Science Museum exhibition.

A reliably decent mix of events on offer here, from journalist Michael Mosley talking on fat to astrobiologist Lewis Dartnell explaining how not to die on Mars. There are also space planes, futuristic fashion and a hands-on experimental area—perfect for citizen scientists.
