Gaston was dreaming, as usual, of pastry people and swimming pools filled with cream cheese. He woke up and began to prepare breakfast, with an eye on the clock. For this morning, as well as taking out the fresh bread from the oven, Gaston was putting the finishing touches to his masterpiece. Lo! in the display window stood a life-size bust of the President, carved out of crusty white bread and sporting a blazer of pastry rectangles (pastel-coloured macaroons doubling as buttons).
