Ways With Words Festival 2018
Like-minded and curious individuals gather at the beautiful location of Dartington Hall in Devon at the height of summer for the Ways With Words annual festival of Words and Ideas.
The bucolic surroundings, the wonderful food and the quality of the speakers attract crowds to a unique 10 days of debate and discussion.
Authors appearing this year include paleopathologist and author Alice Roberts, BBC security correspondent Frank Gardner, award-winning author Penelope Lively, award-winning journalist Luke Harding, former BBC Moscow correspondent Angus Roxburgh and Middle East cultural expert Diana Darke.
Sameer Rahim, Prospect’s Managing Editor will be the chairperson for events on the first weekend of Ways With Words this year including:
Ferdinand Mount, Friday 6th July—Former editor of the Times Literary Supplement and adviser to Margaret Thatcher, Mount launches the festival with his polemical take on what great thinkers, orators and politicians—including Thomas Jefferson and Gandhi—have got wrong.
Tariq Ali, Saturday 7th July—Journalist, historian, film-maker and political activist, Ali revisits the events of 1968 and maps the effects of that radical time on today’s society and the current political landscape.
Other delights at the festival this year include a unique walking event through Dartington Hall’s famous gardens with Observer writer and author Allan Jenkins.
There will be a series of unexpected pop-up events around the festival site alongside a variety of delicious food options.
