Peter Ackroyd takes on his biggest subject to date with the first volume of his history of England, Foundation, which takes us from the primeval forests of England over 15,000 years ago to the death, in 1509, of the first Tudor king, Henry VII. How does a writer embark on such an epic biographical journey?

Peter Ackroyd discusses the work and takes questions from the audience. This event is chaired by broadcaster Bettany Hughes, author of The Hemlock Cup and Helen of Troy.
