Given our recent growth, including the ongoing rise in our circulation and events, Prospect is seeking an experienced person to lead our events delivery.

Location: London

Job Details: ProspectMagazine, the UK’s leading current affairs monthly, is currently recruiting for a Head of Events. You will join and lead a thriving events team and project manage the production and delivery of a wide range of events and projects.

The Role: Responsibility for providing events management for clients, including events production, developing themes, sourcing speakers and booking venues in the Houses of Parliament, the rest of London and at times the rest of the UK. You will also be managing events at the autumn party political conferences. The role will incorporate working on long term projects comprising of several events and supported by communications activity on given issues, whether they are client or editorially led. As part of this you will be expected to take part in liaising with clients from the outset of the event production process, including providing support with researching and writing proposals, working with the digital team to update the Prospect website with information and attending client meetings.

The candidate: This role is ideally suited to someone who is looking to broaden their public affairs and policy knowledge in a variety of sectors as well as producing high quality one off events and larger scale projects that blend events and communications activity. You will work closely with Prospect’s editorial team to develop themes and ensure that events activity is informed by the publication’s latest thinking on the ideas that shape the debate. You must be prepared to work outside of London when required, including for extended periods when travelling to the autumn party conferences.

The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in politics; understand the public affairs industry and have at least three years’ experience of producing events. Ideally you will also have a working understanding of how digital communications and social media can meet communications objectives. Ideally the candidate will have a background in events and communications, experience in a client facing role, and be a great communicator.

Key attributes: The ideal candidate will display the following key attributes:

-An interest and working understanding of politics and the UK public affairs industry

-The ability to develop themes and ideas, as well as drafting briefing documents to a high standard

-A proven track record in creating workable concepts for events that are commercially viable

-Background in events production (two years’ experience)

-Keen appreciation of how Twitter and other digital communications tools can be utilised to create meaningful engagement and increase the reach and exposure of our activities

-Excellent presentation skills, written and oral communication skills

-A background in politics and/or public affairs is desirable.

-Experience in team management

Salary: £30k-£35k (commensurate with experience)
