Niall Ferguson is a British historian. He is currently a professor at Harvard and senior research fellow at Oxford. He has written extensively about financial history, twentieth-century conflicts and global history in several best-selling books, most recently Civilization: The West and the Rest (2011), and regularly appears on television and radio. Writing in the Independent, Hamish McRae described Ferguson as "one of the world's leading historians."
