My Booker prize

Congratulations to Anne Enright, who has scooped this year's Booker prize for The Gathering. I'm delighted with her victory, not only because, in the words of Howard Davies, chair of the judges, "the book is powerful, it pulls you along and it has an absolutely brilliant ending"—I'll have to take his word for it, as I haven't yet read it—but because I got The Gathering in the Prospect office sweepstake. My £6 winnings are rather paltry next to Enright's £50,000, but should at least go most of the way towards buying a (paperback) copy of the book.
